Trial by Facebook

Anyone looking for an insight into the psychology of the average British citizen may want to have a glance at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=43720372184 which another happy group of Facebookers have found someone guilty of having the same name as a murderer, Ian Huntley, and in one section prove how superior they are to him by beating him to death - which of course upholds their moral standing. These exponents of social networking are outraged that Huntley has access to a PC and one or two of the techno-cognoscenti have suggested he may have a games machine with internet access (and a DSL access point in the cell no doubt - or perhaps he nips down to the prison branch of Costa Coffee and hooks up wirelessly.) Now I have no problem with Huntley having an uncomfortable life, but we seem to be heading for the day that some poor sod is killed because he has the same number and roughly the same shape as a child-killer.
